
Throughout Aberdeen and Grampian Highlands and
throughout the year there are a huge number of pursuits
available, both for the more adventurous or those
who crave something less so.
The
countryside and coastline is also a haven for wildlife
and the perfect opportunity for bird-watching,
dolphin spotting or for the budding photographer or
artist to be inspired.
The skiing season can
run between December and April and there are two ideal
winter sports areas - The Lecht and Glenshee.

those who prefer more tranquil activities Aberdeen and
Grampian Highlands offers some of the most famous and
best fishing in the world
with beats on stretches of the Dee, Don and Spey. Along
with these there are plenty of other good quality rivers,
such as the Findhorn, Deveron, Ythan or Ugie, which
offer excellent fishing at reasonable prices.
There
are a host of other adrenaline
pumping activities available including gliding,
rock and ice climbing, paragliding, waterskiing, quad
biking, windsurfing, canoeing, diving, clay pigeon shooting,
4x4 off-road driving and gorge walking. |

67 golf courses
dotted throughout the region, including some which rank
amongst the best in Britain and indeed the world, ensures
that there are courses of every type and to suit all
standards of golfer.
Some
of the finest courses are found around the coast, the
best examples including Cruden Bay with its rippling
fairways that are surrounded by high, grassy dunes and
Royal Aberdeen which, was established in 1780 making
it the 6th oldest club in the world. |
Inland
you’re spoilt for choice. Some of the finest
examples include Newmachar which boasts two excellent
18-hole courses. Set on the banks of the River Deveron,
Duff House Royal is a true parkland course and was
set out by Dr Alister Mackenzie, who also laid out
Augusta Nation, home of the US Masters.
One
of the newest, but none the less impressive, courses
is Inchmarlo Golf Centre's 18-hole course, which opened
in 2001, to accompany its nine-hole course. It also
boasts a 16 bay, floodlight driving range and good
short game practice facilities.
